Gift - Slaves from Humphrey Arnold to Isaac Arnold

This indenture, made this fourth day of July one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine, between Humphrey Arnold of the County of Fauquier of the one part and Isaac Arnold of said County of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Humphrey Arnold as ____ in consideration of the love and affection that he hath and doth bear unto the said Isaac Arnold (his son) as also for the better support of the said Isaac Arnold's family hath given, grant and confirmed, and by these presents doth give, grant and confirm unto the said Isaac Arnold forever two Negroes, namely Sampson and Lettise, together with all their profits, and future increase of her the said Lettise.

To have and to hold the aforesaid Negroes and future increase hereby given and granted to the only proper use and ____ of him the said Isaac Arnold, his heirs, Executors, Administrators or assigns forever.

In witness whereof, the said Humphrey Arnold hath hereunto set his hand and seale the day and year first above written.

At a court held for Fauquier County the twenty eighth day of September 1789, this deed of git was proved to be the act and deed of the said Humphrey Arnold by the oath of William Pinkard a witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.
