Land Deed - William E. Arnold and Mary Arnold to Jeremiah RowlandFebruary 20, 1865 Source: Franklin County, Kentucky, Deed Book 8, p. 243-244 This indenture, made and entered into the 20th day of Febry 1865, between William E. Arnold and Mary Arnold, his wife, of the County of Pendleton and State of Kentucky of the first part, and Jeremiah Rowland of the County of Woodford and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth: That the parties of the first part for and in consideration of four hundred & thirty four dollars in hand paid have granted, aliened and conveyed, and by these presents do grant, alien and convey unto Jeremiah Rowland, his heirs and assigns forever, all the right, title and interest of the said Wm E. Arnold in and to a certain tract of land lying in Franklin County Kentucky on the Kentucky River and bounded as follows, to wit, beginning on the bank of river at the edge of the water corner to Wm Webb thence with his line N19½ E79 poles to a branch, thence down said branch N52½ W10 poles to a beech tree and then corner to Wm Webb, thence N22½ E16 poles & 12½ links to and then of his corner, thence S76½ E9 poles & 10 links to and then of his corner, thence with his line N19½ E233 poles to a stone near a marked white oak sapling, thence S70 E77 poles to a stone on the north side of ______ ______, thence S25½ W14½ poles to a stone among three beeches and a large poplar in the head of a hollow corner to Wm Quarles, thence with his line S17¼ W367 poles to a corner to Wm Quarles on the bank of the river at the water edge, thence down the river at the edge of the water and its meander N41½ W8 poles, N35 W12 poles, N31 W8 poles, N26¼ W34 poles, N33 W16 poles, N39 W12 poles, N44½ W16 poles & 20 links to the beginning. To have and to hold the interest of the said Wm E. Arnold in the said tract of land together with all and singular the tenement and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to the said Jeremiah Rowland, his heirs & assigns forever. And for the consideration aforesaid, the said W. E. Arnold doth covenant to forever warrant and defend the title to the said interest herein conveyed in and to the said tract of land to the said Jeremiah Rowland, his heirs & assigns forever, against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony which the parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands & seals the day and year above written. William E. Arnold State of Kentucky, Pendleton County I, Henry D. Hanson, Clerk of the County Court for said County, do certify that this deed from William E. Arnold & Mary Arnold, his wife, to Jeremiah Rowland, was this day produced to me in my county by said grantors & acknowledged by them to be their act & deed and the same is certified to the proper office for record. Given under my hand this 25th day of Febry 1865. Henry D. Hanson State of Kentucky I, Alexander H. Rennick, Clerk of the County Court for the County of Franklin, do certify that the foregoing deed was produced to me in my office on the sixth day of June 1865 and a fifty cent United States revenue stamp attached thereon and the same with the certificate endorsed and this certificate have been truly recorded in my office.
