Land Deed - Egbert Q. Arnold to Archibald QuarlesMay 29, 1851 Source: Franklin County, Kentucky, Deed Book 4, p. 121 This indenture, made this 29th day of May 1851, between Egbert Q. Arnold of Franklin County, State of Kentucky, of the one part, and Archibald Quarles, of the same County and State, of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Arnold, for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and 6 __ dollars, ______ in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Quarles, his heirs and assigns forever, all his right, title, interest and claim to all the real estate in the County of Franklin in said State which William E. Quarles late of said County died, seized and possessed, and in which the said Arnold has an interest as heir and grandson of the said William E. Quarles decd and particularly all right, title, interest and claim in and to a certain tract or parcel of land situate and being in said County a short distance below the mouth of Elkhorn Creek supposed to contain three hundred and eighty acres more or less bounded on the west by the Kentucky river, on the north by the lands of John Harrod, and being the same tract of land on which the said William E. Quarles lived and died, also all right, title, interest and claim to a certain other tract of land lying and being in said County of Franklin being the same on which Benjamin Arnold now lives situate on Long Grass Ck and bounded as follows to wit on the North & East by the homes of Hugh Sanders. It is expressly understood and agreed that this deed is intended to convey to said Quarles all the right, title, claim and interest which the said Egbert Q. Arnold, party of the first part, has to any and all lands in said County of Franklin, which he the said Arnold has as lien at law of the said William E. Quarles deceased. To have and to hold the same with the appurtenances, rights and privileges thereunto belonging or in any ______ ______ unto the said Quarles, his heirs and assigns known, against the claim or claims of all and every person claiming or to claim by, through or under him, but none other. In witness whereof the said Arnold has hereto set his hand and seal this the day and year first above written. Egbert Q. Arnold State of Kentucky I, Alexander H. Rennick, Clerk of the County Court for the County of Franklin, do certify that the foregoing deed from Egbert Q. Arnold to Archibald Quarles was this day produced to me in my office and was acknowledged by the said Egbert Q. Arnold to be his act and deed. Whereupon the same with this certificate have been truly recorded in my office. Witness my hand as Clerk as aforesaid this 29th day of May 1851. A. H. Rennick |
