Will for John Doyle Sr.

In the name of God Amen.

I, John Doyle of ye County of Richmond, being sick and weake but of perfect mind and memory doth apoynt this my last will & testament, revoking all former wills by me mayd and I bequeath my soule to Allmyty God and my body to ye earth from whence it came and to be buried at the direction of my Executor hereinafter mentioned.

Item. That all my debts be first payd.

Item: I give to my son John Doyle and to my son James Doyle a ____ tract of land lying near Richmond Coast house and to be equally divided between my two sons John and James to them and their heyrs forever lawfulley begoten of their bodeys.

Item. I give to my son Daniel Doyle that tract of land I bought of John ____ to him and his heyres forever and in case my son Daniel should dey without issue lawfulley begoten then all that tract of land to return to ye next survivor.

Item. I give to my dater Ellinor Doyle one Negro woman Sarah and one whit woman named Christen Blare and five thousand pounds of tobaco to be payd to my dater Ellinor at ye day of marredg out of my estate and one large feather bed and furniture that I bought last year and two eyron pots and fore brass candillsticks and six large pewter dishes and a ___ warming pan to her and her heyrs forever.

Item. I give to my dater Elizabeth Doyle eayt thousand pounds of tobaco to be paid at ye day of maredge or when she comes to ye eage of eaytene or which should hapin furst.

Item. I give my loving wife Marey [Mary] Doyle fore whit men servants Will Bisell and Tho. Barritt and Symon Welch and Will ____ and two Negro named Dick and Negro James and all my cattil and horses and mares I bequeath to my loveing wife Marey [Mary] Doyle and I doth appoynt my loving wife _____ and soale executor of this my last will and testament.

Item. I give to my dater Catren Doyle as much tobaco as will bey her two whit servants out of my estate when my dater comes to ye year of ayteen or mared.

I doth appoint Capt. Charles Barber and Capt. Gorge Escredg to be ayding and assisting to my wife in her bisnes and to each of them ten shillings to by them each of them a ring.

As whereby I poynt this my last will and testament this 17th day of Febry Anno 1717/8.

This will was proved in open court by the oath of Francis Lucas one of the witnesses thereto, and admitted to record.
